MELVERN'S E-PORTFOLIO
Final Project
The final task of Project 3 is to design a tropical reserve at Taman Botani Negara Shah Alam (TBNSA). Sanctuaries need areas for contemplation as well as spaces for rest, discussion, and other activities. The maximum allowable construction area of this building is 100 square meters, and for short stays of 2-3 days, a student and her two people, including a family member, can comfortably stay. Design should consider the immediate context of the tropics and create a strong relationship with the environment so that the architecture is uniquely adapted to the landscape and activities of the protected area. The structure should aim to clarify the student's design intentions through the application of architectural principles, materiality and buildability, and create a memorable spatial experience for the user. Specific space requirements for the sanctuary include contemplation areas for exploration and observation, work areas for routine tasks, discussion rooms, quiet areas for contemplation, meditation and relaxation, and basic hygiene needs. Includes a washroom
Part 1 of Design Process Sketch Journal ( Site Analytics) + Study Model
At first we visit Kebun Botani Shah Alam and chose 2 part of the park then analyzed both site that related to prior things to consider before design a building.

Working Model
At first i wanna make both side of the structure curves, but by time to time Dr. Ian has helped me to developed on how to make this building possible to make. That is why he said take one of the big idea from the previous mock up models that i have made which is the big curves. He said it design development process. As I wanted to make the Art into real building that can be live in, this project represented all i have imagine during my teenager hood.
FINALIST
Reflection
On this project i met the best tutor ever, he is Dr. Ian. He has helped me develop my self-esteem during the working on this final project. From the start, this project has consumed a lot of my time, moreover, Dr. Ian is a discipline person. So he set schedule for every tutorial class. But in the end that was the thing that has helped me to develop Self-Discipline.
As for the design he is really kind of tutor that really help the student and really patience for me, because I always feel confuse on how this building constructed in real life. Also appreciation from Dr. Ian has helped me to pushed my self to bring at least one new model mock-up per one week of tutorial class that help me to increase my learning.
By this assignment i got TGC ( Taylors Graduate Capabilities ); Life Long learning, discipline, Communication skills.
