In Project 1, sociocultural, economic, and political issues have an ongoing impact on how a place's identity is constructed. Urban growth can significantly alter the significance of traditional streets in a city like Kuala Lumpur that is rapidly becoming more globalized. The goal of the research is to examine and comprehend the "lexicons"—distinctive traits—of ancient streets, encompassing both their concrete architectural and spatial aspects and their intangible socio-cultural characteristics. The project's goals include showing an awareness of place settings and how they affect place identity and socio-cultural meanings, as well as talking about how architecture in Asia interacts with its social, cultural, and intellectual environment. In order to complete this project, we must physically visit a designated traditional street and note both its physical and non-physical characteristics contexts using specific criteria, and documenting observations in a manual sketch journal.
