MELVERN'S E-PORTFOLIO

PROJECT 1: GEOMETRY & FORM: ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN ELEMENTS & PRINCIPLES
TASK
1. Workshop-based Tutorial
Part 1
choose one (1) Ordering Principle you wish to work with from the following list:
-Axis
- Symmetry
-Hierarchy
- Datum
- Rhythm
- Repetition
Part 3
represent chosen ordering principle in a combination of two (2) or three (3) of the primary elements in Part 2 in one (1) more subsequent model.
Part 2
You will explore your chosen ordering principle in form and volume (models) via the following Primary Elements (a model for each element with the same ordering principle):
-Point
-Line
-Plane
Part 4
You will draw, render and shade four (4) tattoo stamps of your model from Part 3. The tattoo stamps drawn in scale 1:1 shall be derived and based from the following:
- horizontal section (plan)
- vertical section (section)
- side view (elevation-pick the most interesting side that demonstrates the selected Primary Element and Ordering Principle)
- top view
2. Guidelines
Model
Size: 100x100x100mm (70% volume must be filled) Materials:
- white modeling board
- grey board
- perspex
- balsa wood
Tattoo Stamp
Size: 100x100x100mm (70% area must be filled) Drawn on Cartridge paper
Monochromatic and rendered with ink
3. The Design Process Sketch Journal - DPSJ
compile sketches and images of your process models during your design process in A3 format.
MOCK UP 1
PROGRESS

RHYTHM (PLANE)
FEEDBACK : PUT MORE PLAN TO EMPHASISE THE RHYTHM.
MOCK UP 2

ELEMENT AND PRINCIPLE : RHYTHM (PLANE)
FEEDBACK : MAKE THE CUBES NEATER TO CREATE GOOD RHYTHM EFFECT.
MOCK UP 3

ELEMENT AND PRINCIPLE :SYMMETRY (LINE , POINT)
FEEDBACK : MAKE THE EACH SIDE UP AND DOWN TO CREATE EXCITEMENT.
FINAL MOCK UP

ELEMENT AND PRINCIPLE : SYMMETRY,REPETITION THE COMBINATION OF POINT & PLAN
